While watching The Order of the Phoenix tonight, I realized that Professor Umbridge looks like my grandfather’s second wife, who died last year. I really was not a big fan of her, and now I can’t decide if I didn’t like her because I didn’t like Umbridge, or if I don’t like Umbridge because I didn’t like her.

I hate Rita Skeeter way more than Dolores Umbridge. Umbridge was trying to do what she thought was best, even if it was the wrong way to do it. Skeeter was just a selfish writer.

And while I wish we knew more about Voldemort’s life, I don’t wanna know anything about her. I don’t care.

Dolores is the best villain in the series. Compared to her, Voldemort and Bellatrix are cartoon characters. People like Umbridge exist everywhere: self-righteous sociopaths who get through life thanks to charm and kissing up to the right bosses. They hurt others, but never feel any guilt since they are completely incapable to see the hurt they inflict.

I personally think that Umbridge takes the title “cat lady” to a whole new level.

Nothing disturbs more than what happened to Dolores Umbridge. I don’t think the fact that centaurs are known in traditional mythology for raping women and Umbridge’s post-traumatic reactions when she is recovered from the forest are a coincidence. Few physical scars, but obvious emotional disturbment, combined with the ability to be triggered by the sound of hooves? Umbridge is hardly a sympathetic character, but using rape as punishment? Shame on you, JKR.
