Lily loved James. She didn’t love Snape. She has every right to feel that way and choose who she loves no matter WHAT the reason behind it is, and no matter how anyone else felt. Snape could’ve been a perfect man and James could’ve been a horrible person - It doesn’t make her obligated to love or not love anyone.
